Sports betting is off to a running start in New Jersey as operators continue to announce soon-to-launch services and upcoming partnership deals.
After the United States Supreme Court overturned PASPA in mid-May, New Jersey wasted no time in passing legislation setting up the sports gambling laws within its borders. By June 12, Governor Phil Murphy had signed Assembly Bill 4111 into law, allowing casinos and racetracks to accept sports betting wagers. As VSO News previously reported, Monmouth Park Racetrack was the first to get started with sports betting in the state, and now others are preparing to follow suit.
Meadowlands gearing up
The Meadowlands Racetrack is one such operator that is almost ready to offer sports betting services. Back in June, Jeff Gural, the operator behind the venue, said that the first day of legal sports wagering would take place on July 15. Now, it seems the Meadowlands will be offering services beginning on the 14th.
Ahead of schedule, the Meadowlands is ready to get started offering visitors sports betting options in just a few days. The general manager of the track, Jason Settlemoir, said: “The timing is much better and in correlation with one of our biggest race days, the Meadowlands Pace.”
Players will be able to place sports wagers at the Victory Sports Bar and Club, which will open at 9:30 am on the 14th. Speeches will be made, and special guests will be placing the first legalized sports bets within the venue. A short time later, the club will open to the public so that wagers can take place officially on professional and college sports.
The Meadowlands will be offering sports betting via Betfair, as the two have signed a partnership deal. The track will offer its own in-house odds and other service options.

Atlantic City boardwalk venue the Resorts Casino Hotel is a second gaming operator gearing up to provide sports betting in the state. The casino operator recently announced a new partnership deal with SBTech, a second US deal for the sports betting solutions provider.
SBTech will be providing a sportsbook via Resorts Casino across several channels including online, mobile, and retail. Resorts Casino will be using the platform of SBTech to provide a full omni-channel offering. The deal with Resorts Casino is the second in the US for SBTech, which is also working with Churchill Down Incorporated via a multi-jurisdictional partnership agreement.
