Mega Joker Slots
Classic Vegas casino game fans will welcome Mega Joker's simplicity. Playing it is a nice break away from the complexity that comes along with bigger, more elaborate online slots games. Still, this isn't the simplest of classic Vegas games.
Mega Joker has only three reels, but five paylines and some bonus features that you don't expect from old-school slots. With its progressive mystery jackpot and a Supermeter bonus feature, big wins are possible. The game plays well on your home or laptop computer that has Mac, Linux or Windows operating systems.
Theme
Mega Joker makes it feel like you've stepped into a real brick-and-mortar Vegas casino of days gone by. Around your slot machine there are some potted houseplants and behind those, some heavily patterned wallpaper. The machine has a vintage, c.1985 cartoon-type design, with classic symbols on the reels and lights that continually blink on and off, just like inside the real Vegas casinos where these vintage machines try to lure you to play them.
You don't have to guess at what each combo is worth, because it's all clearly printed on the front of the machine in bright rainbow colors. Symbols are typical of vintage slots and include cherries, oranges, lemons, grapes, watermelon, golden bells, treasure chests and the number seven. The highest winning symbol of all is, of course, the Joker.
There isn't any background music on this game, but there are sound effects for spinning and when the reels stop, and a little musical fanfare whenever you win. Line up three Jokers and a longer song plays to celebrate the achievement.
Features
Playing Mega Joker almost feels like playing two slots at once. When you win on the bottom reels, you have the option to collect that cash or use it as a credit to move up and play on the top Supermeter reels. While playing on the Supermeter, you have a chance to win any number of prizes, the size of which is determined by the bid you made on the lower reels. You can choose to collect your coins from the Supermeter at any time, or you can keep spinning in the hopes of winning big. Once your stakes run out, the game automatically returns you to the lower reels to try again.
Bonus
The Mega Joker Jackpot, is awarded randomly-you don't have to line up any particular symbols when you spin. However, winning it is linked to the amount you bid, so bigger bets equal a greater chance of landing the big progressive jackpot. With a maximum bid of just 2.00, it makes a lot of sense to opt for the "Max Bid" button every time you spin.
Limits
Coin values are set at .10 and .20 and you can bet one or ten coins per spin. The minimum bet per spin is .10 and the maximum is 2.00. The maximum coin payout on any one spin is 2,000.
Play
Really simple controls make this a great game for beginning players to hone their slot machine skills. The only options to press are Spin, Max Bet, Bet and Collect. Unlike most Net Entertainment slots, there isn't an autoplay feature. Winning combination amounts are printed on the machine itself and easy to view. All the number readouts are on old-school digital displays featuring green numbers against a black background.
Compatibility
Mega Joker, like all other NetENT games, is fully compatible with Linux, Mac and Windows operating systems-computer or laptop.
