So if such an adventure sounds like something you might enjoy, stick around a little longer and find out more about Sky of Love…
Love 10,000 Feet Above Sea Level
Sky of Love is about a romance in the sky, between a pilot and a stewardess. With such a premise, it should come as no surprise that the whole game is set up in the sky.
The reels are framed in a metallic case vaguely reminiscent of a plane’s cabin, topped by the paytable with is itself framed by a small pair of flapping wings. The pilot and the stewardess stand on each side of the reels as well, wearing their uniform and a rather unrealistic look about them. Their cartoon-like appearance fails to make them appear either attractive or funny.
The rest of the setup is minimalistic, with only abstract shapes in various shades of blue to illustrate that we are flying high in the sky. The sound effects are also nothing to shout about. Briefly said, Sky of Love is not a particularly brilliant slot game in terms of atmosphere and graphics. Let’s now see whether the gameplay brings something more interesting to the table.
Back to Basics
As mentioned earlier, Sky of Love sticks to the very basic elements necessary for a slot game to call itself a slot game.
Here you will have only three reels to watch, with a single payline running right across them. This is literally the simplest setup you could imagine. As per usual, you can use the (+) and (-) buttons located below the reels in order to adjust the amount of your bet. The Max Bet shortcut will allow you to go all-in with a single click, whereas a hit of the Spin button will set the reels into motion once you are satisfied with your other settings.
The Autoplay function is also there, located in a tab at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. Click it to set up a predetermined number of spins to bet on with a constant wager; validate your choice, sit back and enjoy the show for a little while. But now that you know how to navigate the game settings, the time has come to take a look at the paytable.
Combinations Rule Supreme
As in most old-school slot games, combinations of symbols are what occupy the paytable. The focus is on how much these combinations are worth, rather than on the worth of every single symbol.
You will find various icons such as the Red Lips, the Stewardess, the Target (with a heart in the centre), the Captain, the phase “I love you”, both our protagonists seen together through an airplane window and a bottle of Champagne.
Each line on the paytable represents a combination of symbols and each of these winning combinations corresponds to a Multiplier. Each Multiplier will be applied to the amount of your wager in order to determine your cash rewards. Depending on the value of your initial bet, the Multiplier awarded by each combo will vary. The paytable is always on display on top of the rules, so it is a good idea to check it out frequently to see what the stakes are. The largest win comes with a three Champagne bottle combo: 10,000 times your initial bet!
Out with the Old, In with the Slightly Less Old
Sky of Love is a trip back to the origins of slot games. Here you will find no Wilds, no Scatters, no Bonus rounds and no more than three reels and one lonely payline. In a nutshell, if you enjoy simple and efficient games that go straight to the point without any kind of fuss, Sky of Love is definitely an option to consider.
The rather poor and uninspired graphics are less likely to seduce many players, however. The theme of airplane romance is quite original for a video slot game, but the realisation of the game is simply not up to the task, with slots like Combat Romance out there to compete with.
