Cupid's Arrow Slots
There’s no better time of year to play a love-themed video slot than around Valentine’s Day. Then again, with cash prizes to be won, why restrict yourself to playing Mobilot’s Cupid’s Arrow slot just once a year?
Cupid’s Arrow is a five-reel slot featuring three rows and 30 paylines. If you’re a cynic, the fluffy white clouds, red hearts and red roses might make you want to vomit rather than whisper sweet nothings into the ear of your loved one, but if you’re a romantic at heart, you might well admire the look of the game, which is set high in the heavens, with love the dominant theme.
Layout
The five-by-three reel layout of Cupid’s Arrow sees symbols descend, quite literally, from the heavens. The game is set high in the sky, with fluffy white clouds scattered roundabout. The game title appears in red along the top of the grid, while the controls are set along the bottom.
There are just two coin sizes available in Cupid’s Arrow – 0.10 and 0.20. Playing all 30 lines, therefore, you can only bet a maximum of six credits. As such, you could call this one a penny slot. The maximum number of auto spins which can be played, meanwhile, is 20.
Signs of romance
The game’s high value symbols include a heart, a rose, a be-winged boy holding a red heart and a be-winged girl holding a red heart. Lower values icons, meanwhile, comprise playing card symbols, each rendered in a different colour. In addition to a ten, there’s a jack, a queen, a king and an ace.
There are a few special symbols in the game. The blue bow, for example, is wild, able to substitute for all others except the scatter and bonus icons. More on those mysterious symbols later.
Among the regular symbols, the playing cards are of the lowest value. Hit five tens, for instance, and you’ll win just 45. The pay-outs for 10s and jacks are identical, with the queen symbol moderately better, granting 50 for five. The king yields 30 for four and 75 for five, while the ace pays 30 for four and 100 for five.
The red rose is better fare. It pays 10 for three, 45 for four and 150 for all five. The red heart is 10 for three, 45 for four and 175 for five, while the female cherub grants 15 for three, 50 for four and 250 for all five. Lastly, the boy cherub pays 20 for three, 100 for four and 500 for five.
Love bonus and free spins
Other than the wild, the two special symbols include a free spins bonus and a love bonus. The free spins icon is one you won’t struggle to spot – it’s of a gold-tinted arrow, with Free Spins written beneath. The Love Bonus, meanwhile, is just a symbol that says Love Bonus in orange letters. The game designers haven’t really gone to great lengths to jazz things up here, have they?
Three free spins bonuses on the reels grants you five free spins, though it’s unclear whether four and five free spins icons grants you more. What we learned about this game I learned from playing in free slots mode, on Mobilots’ website. Sadly, the Settings tab does not explain the rules associated with hitting free spins icons, nor does it clarify what players can expect from the Love Bonus. After playing for half an hour trying to hit four or five scatters, or three or more Love Bonus icons, my patience duly expired.
Is love in the air?
Cupid’s Arrow is a bog standard video slot with a cute, quirky theme. While the pay-table is pretty generous, it’s obvious that the game hasn’t been well thought-through. For starters, the Settings tab doesn’t even break down the rules of the game properly. Have a go in free mode, but I’d advise against committing to online slots for real money until you know the slot inside out.
