Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure Slots
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure is a video slot based on the cult 1989 movie of the same name. Every kid who grew up in the 90s will be familiar with Bill and Ted, the stoned misfits who wound up zooming through the universe on a journey through time.
Developed by Isle of Man-based slot developer Microgaming, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure only has 3 reels and 5 paylines, but there’s plenty to get excited about, particularly if you’re a fan of the flick which launched the career of Keanu Reeves.
While the slot appears to have aged almost as much as the film, it nonetheless offers gamers the chance to win pay-outs of up to 4,000, and there’s a glut of interesting features into the bargain, including a wild symbol and some bonus games. The gameplay is smooth and seamless, and the icons include famous scenes and faces from the film itself. As the eponymous slackers would say: far out!
Coin Denominations
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure is playable with coins that range in size from 0.10 to 2. Only one coin can be staked per payline, and all lines are in play on every spin of the reels, which means the cost-per-spin stretches from 0.50 to 10 credits. As such, this one can very much be considered a low rollers’ slot. All wins pay left to right, except in the case of the scatter, which pays in any configuration.
Gameplay
The aim of the game, as ever, is to find matching combinations on the reels to trigger pay-outs. As it’s a 3-reeler, there’s just one combination to be found for each symbol, and that’s a combination of three matching.
The symbols comprise historical figures who cropped up in the movie, as well as the endlessly quotable protagonists. They include Napoleon, Abraham Lincoln, Genghis Khan, the boys’ enigmatic mentor Rufus, Bill and Ted themselves, the Wyld Stallyns logo (this was the name of the lads’ band in the film), the game logo and the phone box time machine.
The Wyld Stallyns logo is wild, meaning it can replace all others in the game, although it cannot replace the phone box scatter. It also comes with a generous 1,000x prize when you find three. As for the others, the Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure logo pays the 2,000x jackpot.
The red phone box scatter is not linked to any pay-outs, but three of these symbols triggers the Circuit of Time bonus, which can be very lucrative indeed.
Among the rest of the symbols, Bill and Ted pays 50x, Rufus pays 20x, Abraham Lincoln pays 10x, Genghis Khan pays 5x and it’s just 2x for three Napoleons. In the slot, win lines cascade, which means they are removed from the reel display, with the reels above dropping down into their place and offering the prospect of further wins.
Circuits of Time Bonus
During the Circuits of Time bonus, gamers can win a random number of free spins by shooting at planets as they zip through the cosmos. Players can either fire at the planets themselves, or elect to play on autopilot, where Bill and Ted will do the shooting for them. Every time a planet is hit, a random number of free spins are revealed. At the end of the round, you’ll get to play the total number of re-spins uncovered
Guitar Bonus
The Guitar bonus activates randomly, and also gives you the chance to win free spins. Any spin or cascade during the base game can trigger this particular mini-game. When this happens, you’ll get to collect free spins by trying to stop the lightning bolt on the sweet spot on the electric guitar string. On screen, a four-string electric guitar will appear, and forks of lightning will flash on the strings. Hit stop on the perfect spot to win a round of free spins.
When the Guitar bonus is all done, you’ll be returned to the base game, where your free spins will automatically commence. Note that all bets played during the free spins round are the same as on the spin which triggered the Guitar bonus game.
“Strange things are afoot at the Circle-K”
Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure is certainly not “bonus, heinous, most non-triumphant.” In fact, it’s a pretty cool video slot, one that comprises a wild, a scatter and a randomly activating bonus round. If you’re a fan of the movie, or even if you’re not, spin the reels and try to hit the 2,000x jackpot.
