The idea of putting the symbols on a waterfall and make them literally cascade down is simple, yet brilliant. We loved the fact that the developers went out of their way to create a coherent universe for players to enjoy. The sound effects and music, however, could have been a little more prominent to make the whole Unicorn Grove even more immersive.
Under the Waterfall
Unicorn Grove looks and feels a lot like many other slots from Genesis Gaming. As a result, the basic rules of the game are also quite classic. The waterfall in the foreground supports 5 columns of symbols and 25 paylines, with a betting range spanning from 0.25 to 250 credits per turn. You can use the arrow buttons under the reels to pick a wager and get the game started, with the turbo mode on if you want to make the experience even more thrilling.
Apart from this, you have an autoplay mode to let you place the same wager several times in a row. As a drop-based slot game, the different combinations that you score in Unicorn Grove will disappear and leave space for new symbols to cascade down and, with a little luck, start a long list of consecutive wins, free of charge. The reel symbols themselves include classic card icons, plus fairies, mermaids, fauns and unicorns for a maximum reward of 750 times your line bet.

As mentioned before, the volatility in Unicorn Grove is a little high and can make score wins more challenging than usual. After the 4th cascade, you win 8 free spins instantly. Unicorn Grove starts from a simple idea and delivers an original visual universe. The cascading symbols and the waterfall bonus are absolutely brilliant, and we had a lot of fun chasing after the free spins and the high multipliers while testing the game. Unicorn Grove is still a little challenging, though, so be ready to spend some time and credits to fully enjoy the game.
We also felt that the wilds didn’t really bring anything to the experience, as they were a little tough to come by overall. Whereas some slot games rely on wilds a lot, these symbols do not seem to be that helpful in Unicorn Grove. Again, don’t forget that games with a higher volatility require some extra patience before they unravel their secrets.
