Imperial Destiny Slots
Imperial Destiny really does mean business. It has a serious name, ominous setting, intense facial expressions and a title that has letters that don’t sparkle, but gleem. As though even the name was just unearthed it from a hidden tomb and found by an Indiana Jones type. But is Eyecon’s 5 reel, 25-line game worth discovering for or should it just stay hidden?
So Nice Tomb Welcome You Back
While quite a few games create a fantasy world or try and create the buzz of a sporting event or TV show, Imperial Destiny has taken us back in time. And unlike Blackadder and his merry assessment of cohorts, this is no laughing matter.
We’ve been taken back to the period of 220 BC when Qin Shi Huang ruled China. And as he was the first of his kind, it’s a pretty big deal.
In-keeping with the tone of the game, Huang wasn’t exactly a court jester, but a ruthless emperor – admittedly a highly successful one, as he started out with the title of king but became China’s first emperor. It is with this ambition that you have to play the game that offers a 95.3% return for player.
Play like an Egyptian
All this background information is useful, as all the symbols go back to that time. While you won’t be able to name all the artefacts, there are plenty you will be able to, like a terracotta warrior, bells, bangles, a tablet and a wooden scroll. The warriors look ready for war and the statues look as though they were set in stone during battle so you might want your game face on.
There are plenty of options just from the stake. You can play at either 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, 25, 25, 30, 40 or 50 credits. As befits a game of ambition, you can put a top bet with one click. You can control the pay lines through an up or down option. There’s also an Autoplay button with the settings of 10,20, 50 or 100 spins.
As if berating you for needing to check how to play, the instructional tour just tells you what each button means and even during the tour you are offered the chance to skip it.
When clicking Gamble after the correct wins, you will be taken to what feels like a secret chamber. Will you end up selecting the golden or jade bangles? The Gamble bonus pays double or nothing on the last win. You’ll remain in this part of the game until either you have select Take Win, 5 correct selections are made, one incorrect selection is made or the seemingly unlikely next win exceeds £32,000 credits.
Bonus Territory
There are plenty of bonuses but you do need to concentrate far more than you would for most 5 reel 25 line games. If you see 3, 4 or 5 scattered bell symbols they trigger 15,20 or 25 free games. During free games, Shi Huangdi symbols, which normally appear on the second and fourth reels, change to appear on reels 1, 3 and 5 too. This results in them covering all positions on their reels before line wins are awarded. When on reels two and four, they can be substituted for all other symbols except for scattered warrior and bell symbols.
Free games, which offer the same paylines and wager as the triggering game, can be triggered a maximum of 15 times.
The highly sought after Scatter Prize Pick is triggered when three or more scattered warrior symbols appear anywhere. You are awarded one pick for each scattered warrior symbol in the triggering combination. Each pick is worth a prize of up to 100x the total wager. Scatter wins are multiplied by the total winner.
Prizes awarded are added together, with prizes doubled when the substitute symbols appear in the line win.
Imperial Force
While so many other slot games try and go for cute or quirky, Imperial Destiny doesn’t hide its ambitious tone. It’s evident throughout. There won’t be too many slot games where you will be researching your history timetable and even less when you won’t recognise all the symbols. But if you want something different, this is for you.
There may be other games with a historical slant, but this does feel one of a kind. It may be tough to master, but no one ever said battles for power should be easy.
