Triple Triple Gold Slot Machine
If you were a fan of WGS Technology’s original Triple Gold slot, you’ll be pleased to know that the game has returned with its bigger, tougher brother – Triple Triple Gold.
As you’d expect from the name, Triple Triple Gold offers three times as much fun as its predecessor, with enhanced multiplier wilds offering the potential for astronomical payouts. Indeed, whereas Triple Gold offered 3x and 9x multipliers for single and double wild substitutions respectively, Triple Triple Gold boosts these numbers to 9x and 81x – sounds like good maths to us!
Supersize Me
While essentially serving as a supersized version of the original game, Triple Triple Gold is virtually identical to its predecessor in terms of rules and functions. Again the slot features 3 reels and a single payline, with players able to select from between 1 and 3 coins and bet sizes ranging from $0.10-$10. All told, this means the game is playable from anywhere between $0.10 and $30 per spin.
As with Triple Gold, you’ll really want to play Triple Triple Gold with the maximum 3 coins selected, as this will grant you access to the highest available payouts. With 3 coins active, players can get their hands on a maximum jackpot of 15,000 coins (5,000x the max stake) and a host of smaller payouts that start at 2x your bet for a single cherry and grow up to 60x for three lucky seven icons.
Somewhat unusually, Triple Triple Gold’s incredibly generous multipliers also mean that the second tier jackpot is incredibly close to the slot’s maximum prize award. As you’re receiving 180 coins for matching three of the aforementioned lucky seven symbols, should you do so using two substitute wilds, your 81x prize multiplier will result in a payout of 14,580 – virtually a jackpot prize in itself.
New Lick of Paint
While Triple Triple Gold still suffers from the same graphical shortcomings that haunted its predecessor – and most of WGS Technology’s other classic slots, for that matter – it is fair to say that the game has been given a new lick of paint to at least refresh the visuals somewhat. Certainly, the graphics are cleaner and crisper than before, with a new wild symbol added to help it stand out.
Beyond that, it is a story of the same old retro symbols again featuring on the reels, with cherries, single and double BAR logos and lucky sevens used to denote the regular payout icons. While this certainly adds a degree of consistency to the series, it makes Triple Triple Gold fairly uninspiring to look at, and this fact is not in any way helped by the game’s general lack of animations and effects.
Similarly, the sound bank used to underscore Triple Triple Gold is equally mundane, with nothing but the standard bleeps and whirs of a retro slot machine featuring as the reels spin and wins are paid.
Multiplier Squared
Of course, most players aren’t coming to Triple Triple Gold to be dazzled by fancy graphics or inspiring sound – instead they simply want a simple gaming experience that offers the potential for some huge regular payouts. As mentioned above, this is achieved by the presence of substitute wild icons that offer a 9x multiplier when one features and a massive 81x when two are present in a win.
While we’ve already explained that this results in the game’s second tier jackpot being only a shade short of the maximum win, it also means that virtually any payline featuring two wilds will result in a tidy payout. Indeed, even a payline including the lowest value icon – the red cherry – and two wilds awards a prize of 486 coins, meaning slot’s the return to player statistics are reasonably generous.
The caveat to this is that wilds do not appear nearly as frequently as you’d imagine, and even when one or more are present on the reels, players are reliant on them actually stopping on the central row. This means that despite the generous payouts, Triple Triple Gold is a very high variance game.
An Improved Performance
Although the fundamentals of the game are virtually identical to the original Triple Gold, Triple Triple Gold’s superior payouts make it a much-improved version of WGS Technology’s classic slot. Again, players shouldn’t expect to be wowed by any fancy graphics or additional features, but what they can expect is a far more generous pay table that more than compensates for any barren losing runs.
