Mysterious Atlantis Slot
Find out what our experts think with our Mysterious Atlantis slot review. The 5 reels feature Greek gods, treasure chests and under water creatures as you chase a 110,000 coin jackpot.
The city of Atlantis has always been steeped in mystery, especially its location. This time, Atlantis is not off the coast of Spain or under the Antarctic. You can find it on the reels of this SYNOT online slot.
Is this one of the best online slots though? Keep reading our Mysterious Atlantis slot review to find out.
Under the Sea
SYNOT’s graphics and design are on point and deliver vivid colours to rival those at the top of the industry. The mythical, underwater city comes to life thanks to a deep blue background and attention to detail like rising bubbles make you feel like you’re playing underwater. The somewhat eerie soundtrack also helps to create the atmosphere.
The vibe of Mysterious Atlantis is coupled with the smooth gameplay we’ve come to expect from SYNOT. This developer only creates HTML5 games which means you don’t need to worry about extra plugins like with Flash and it’s also playable on all devices.
A Breakdown of the Basics
Whilst researching our review of Mysterious Atlantis, we found this 5-reel slot comes with 15 paylines that only pay leftmost to right, with a maximum possible win in a single game round of 110,000 coins.
110,000 coins is a decent max win, but in a market full of slots with 40+ paylines, 243 or 1024 ways to win, both-way-wins, 15 paylines pale in comparison. The same goes for the RTP, which is marked at 94.65%. You’re going to find better RTPs in video slots with a similar theme.
The minimum bet is at 0.20 and goes up to 100 coins, which provides plenty of opportunity for both the novice gambler and the more experienced player to try their hand. There is an autospin feature that allows you to choose anything from ten to 1000 spins, so if you want to sit back and relax, you can do so.
The low-paying royal symbols can give you 1x,3x, or 10x your stake. The ship’s anchor and the green urn go up to 25x your bet. This doubles with the red fish symbol and 5 schooners deliver up to 100x your bet. The god of the sea himself, Poseidon, is the Wild symbol, which substitutes for all other symbols except the Bonus. It appears on reels 2,3,4, and 5.
Use the Compass to Find Cash
Landing the compass on the middle reel is when the real fun starts in Mysterious Atlantis. This triggers 3 wild respins which feature one extra wild chosen at random. These come in the form of three mermaids. Red Thalia will transform all symbols with the highest count on the reels to extra wilds. Green Dione adds an extra wild with each respin. Purple Melite leads to expanded extra wild symbols covering the whole reel. This is the best chance you have at winning a good amount of cash.
While playing for free we won 4000 coins with the max bet of 100 coins by triggering the bonus round. In another instance, we won 218 coins with a bet of two coins. The bonus round was exciting, but we would have preferred to see a bit more action during the main game, instead of leaving it all for the bonus round.
Double Your Wins
Mysterious Atlantis features a cool gamble feature where you can gamble any win you make. You have to guess the colour of the next revealed card. The two colours are red and black, so you have a 50-50 chance of getting it right.
A correct guess doubles the win; a wrong guess causes you to lose your win. There is also the option to credit half of your win to your balance and gamble the rest. Collecting the wins ends the gamble feature, but you can do multiple rounds if you dare. Will you take the risk or play it safe?
Other Underwater Adventures
This is hardly the first time that we’re seeing the city of Atlantis come alive on the reels. Pragmatic Play’s Queen of Atlantis™ is another 5-reel version of the underwater city. Unlike Mysterious Atlantis, it is a 1024-ways-to-win video slot and has a far better RTP at 97.06% and includes a Free Spins round. If you find the black pearl, you can even earn yourself some Super Free Spins.
Another title on the same theme is NetEnt’s Secrets of Atlantis which is brimming with features like both-way wins, colossal symbol respins and nudging extended wilds. An added bonus is the beautiful soundtrack that puts Mysterious Atlantis’ tune to shame.
Our Verdict
Mysterious Atlantis is a decent attempt from SYNOT. Its graphics are a big plus and the game is fast to load on all devices we tried it on. Extra Wilds and the gamble feature also worked well.
Having said that, the RTP is quite poor, the slot has just 15 paylines and only pays wins from left to right. The bonus round yielded some quite good wins, but three respins are too limiting when compared to other slots that offer far more free spins in a bonus round.
