A Tropical Paradise
Everything in Tropicana was designed to inspire relaxation and tranquility, and sun tanning as well.
The background of the game is a minimalistic representation of some tropical vegetation against a bright blue sky and a bamboo fence on top of which the reels are placed. The same design was applied to the reel symbols themselves, a simple but efficient blend.
Tropicana inspires calm and will relax even the most stressed out players in a matter of seconds. Let’s see if the gameplay is just as intuitive and easy in the next section of our review.
Getting Started on the Reels
The basic rules of Tropicana are indeed quite straightforward. It will not take long before you are fully familiar with them and are ready to get the game started.
The game matrix contains 5 reels and only 10 paylines. You have to make sure that winning symbol combinations land onto these paylines in order to trigger a cash prize. The command bar under the reels is there to let you choose a wager and activate as many paylines as you see fit. Spin the reels when you are ready, and each win will grant you access to an optional mini game. Guess the colour of a hidden card to double your win instantly, but keep in mind that a wrong guess will make your earnings disappear.
For a more interesting game, trying betting a little extra; all rewards are based on the size of your wager, and the bet max button can even let you go all-in on your next spin, if you are feeling lucky. Use the autospin game mode to place the same bet over and over again on several spins in a row.
Bamboo Icons and Tropical Rewards
The paytable of Tropicana is made up of two different groups of symbols, associated with different cash prizes.
The first group contains all the classic card icons, starting with the numbers 9 and 10, followed by the Jack, Queen, King and Ace. Your rewards are limited to 125 times your wager with these bamboo symbols.
The cocktail, pineapple, tropical bird, coconut and banana symbols are the remaining basic symbols of Tropicana. With rewards going up to x750, things are already getting more interesting here – but these symbols are also rarer on the reels, so you will have to stay focused, and patient, to score these bigger rewards. Fortunately, there are a few extra special symbols ready to help in Tropicana.
Big Wins Under the Sand
The final two symbols of the game behave differently from the rest of the paytable. Get to know them here so you can take advantage of them during your game.
The leopard symbol is the wild card of Tropicana, which means that you can use it to replace any of the basic symbols listed before. This should help you score some extra winning combinations. Besides, wild combinations themselves can award super big wins going up to x9,000.
The girl with a flower in her hair is also a special symbol: a scatter. No matter where she lands, she can trigger wins as big as x5,000 instantly. Bag three or more scatters anywhere on the reels and you will trigger a bonus round of 15 free games, with a x3 multiplier applied to all your rewards.
Win Big Without Having to Leave the Beach
Tropicana is just the game you need if you are looking for a relaxed and sunny atmosphere, with easy rules and big wins hidden on the reels.
The basic paytable might not be as rewarding as in other games from the same developers, but the special features truly make up for that fact. You will also need a little perseverance in Tropicana, given the relatively small 10-payline setup of the game.
