Reel Xtreme Slots
Who doesn’t like to live life on the edge and have the adrenalin buzz as you push your body to the limit? Does this 5-reel, 30-line game by Saucify capture the thrill or leave you flat?
Layout Buzz
The first thing you’ll notice is just how stylish it is. It really is worth emphasising. You’ll struggle to find a cooler, trendier or full of energy layout. The top left is a skater park at a 45-degree angle, as well as showing a skyline, different shades of blue, some streamlined clouds and a rocky cliff face. The bottom left connects with above by keeping some of rocky cliff face and skyline and a snowboarder shadow outline.
The top right has a great use of colour. The aqua coloured shade doesn’t jar with the other colours and shows off the outline of the windsurfer and diver. The fact that they are at an angle means it really does feel that they are pushing in new directions and not following the rules. The bottom right has an inner cave design perfect for skatebarding, with more shadow figures and skyline. A big transparent X comes through all 4 corners which gives a neat touch of continuity.
The opaque reels themselves might not be the most detailed compared to the background, but they still keep up the idea of extremity. These include an endurance runner, a windsurfer and dirt biker rider. Saucify have decided to use the Ace, King, Queen, Jack and 10, which is a shame as there are plenty of other symbols they could have used. A bungee jumper, skydiver, cave diver or high-rise tightrope walker perhaps?
Xtreme Reels
The heavy metal music gets you in the mood before even starting. So it is rather surprising that while you can play any line between 1 and 30, you can only bet between 1 and 5 coins. While this might not be the most adrenalin-fuelled betting, the game does compensate in other ways. As well as the Bet Max button, there is an Autospin option. And rather than just an on/off setting, you can go for either 10, 25, 50 or 100 spins. Even better, if you want a specific spin between those numbers you can go up or down until you get what you want.
As shown on the Paytable the dirtbike rider is top of the regular symbols with a maximum value of 3,000 spins, and the only one of them to give any credits for getting 2. The next most useful is the windsurfer, worth up to 1,000, going down to the endurance runner with a best credit value of 240. With the letters, it drops from an Ace at 150 credits to a 10 symbol worth a best case scenario of 40.
But this game is far from just the numbers. While the Ace, King, Queen, Jack and 10 pictures come to life with a flaming background when part of a winning spin, the picture icons change to a video clip of the activity in action. If you go the Paytable you’ll also see the relevant part of the credits flame in and out. Very cool stuff.
Reel Bonuses
The bonuses are well titled. The wild extreme symbol gives up to 6,000, double the value of the regular top card. It replaces everything except the Scatter symbol and doubles the value of any win. There are also Scatter and Free Spin Scatter options. The Scatter (a snowboarder) pays up to 100 credits for 5, with scatter wins multiplied by the total credits wagered. They are paid in addition to the payline win.
The Free Spins Scatter has a double use. It pays either 2, 10 or 50 credits depending if you get 3, 4 or 5 of them and gives you free spins of 10, 15 or 20. Unlike the Wildcard, neither Scatter is labelled which is rather odd.
There are no paylines shown on the main screen but you can get the diagrams of each of them on the Paytable, albeit in small form. While the Paytable page is pretty cramped, it does get points for being extremely well organised and neatly boxed into categories.
Great to Look at, Great to Play
You’ll struggle to find a more stylish game than this. It really is great to look at, easy to play and has a real sense of extremity and fast speed. While you may not be able to bet much in one go, you can still get great prizes and fantastic bonuses. Definitely worth playing on the edge of your seat.
