Diamond Valley Slot Machine
The developers at Playtech are true masters at either taking players into a realistic and exciting game universe, or at sticking to the very basics of the genre and delivering low-key slot games.
Diamond Valley might sound like a million dollars, but it definitely belongs to the second category. This video slot game features basic options, a simple gameplay and a cheerful atmosphere inspired by the barren landscapes of the Death Valley.
And who knows what treasures could be hidden between every rock. To find out more about the game, read our complete review and get ready to gamble…
Venture deep into the desert
The Death Valley might be an unforgiving place, but Diamond Valley somehow looks like a fun a fun holiday destination.
The cartoonish aesthetics of the game and their light pastel colours give Diamond Valley a friendly touch that is quite pleasant to look at. The graphics are rather basic, but you can see plenty of details in the background, behind the reels.
Cacti, vultures circling in the sky, blazing hot sun and mountains in the distance, there is a lot to look at. The overall result is fun to look at despite the overuse of purple tones and the simplistic graphics. Let’s move on to the gameplay itself in the next section.
Get ready for a hot day
The desert of Diamond Valley is unforgiving for those who come unprepared. But fortunately, we have you covered right from the start of your gambling adventure.
The five spinning reels of the game contain three symbols each, and only five paylines are drawn across them, making the game setup rather limited in comparison to other modern slot games. To win, your goal is to line up specific combinations of reel symbols on the paylines. The command bar located at the bottom of the game screen lets you adjust your line bet with the Bet One button. Use Bet Max to go all-in with a single click and launch the reels at once. Use the numbered side tabs to activate or deactivate paylines.
Click the Spin button when you are ready and watch the reels start moving. All winnings are transferred automatically to your credit total by the game, so no need to worry about that. All you need to do is focus on the action, cross your fingers for a bit of extra luck and hope for the best. In the next section, we will detail the reel symbols available on the reels.
Cartoonish randomness
The symbol menu of Diamond Valley features only six basic symbols, with little to no relation to each other at first sight.
We start low in terms of payout with a Golden Tooth, followed by a flaming Bar Sign. These two icons are the most frequent on the reels and they will give you plenty of winning opportunities to compensate for their lower cash rewards.
The rest of the menu contains a Snake coiled around a green box, a purple Bird, a blue Dollar Sign punctured by two arrows and a gigantic Crystal. All of them bring about big wins if you manage to score long combinations of the same specific kind of symbol, so better stay focused.
Special features
The Hand symbol that holds a Diamond is a dedicated Bonus symbol in Diamond Valley. Line up three or more of them on a payline to initiate the Pit Bonus round, where you have to decide which person to rescue from a pit where a certain death await them. You will be rewarded with a cash prize once the person is out of harm’s way.
The shiny Pink Diamond is a Scatter symbol. No need to worry about paylines here, all you have to do is make sure that three or more Scatters appear on the reels at the end of your turn, aligned or not. The Scatter cash reward is however quite low.
The Crystal symbol mentioned in the previous section also has a secret: it is the key to unlock the Diamond Valley’s progressive jackpot. A five-of-a-kind Crystal combination on the 5th reel alone can land you that massive amount of cash, so make sure that you are playing with all paylines activated.
Fun, but with limited freedom
Diamond Valley is hard to pinpoint and put into a specific category. The theme is uncertain, the graphics low-key and the rewards quite average.
The main attraction of Diamond Valley has to be the progressive jackpot, without which players’ interest might wane quickly. So keep that in mind before getting started on your trip across the desert.
