Super Star DJ Slots
Ready to spin the decks and cash some checks? Super Star DJ is just the game. The music-themed 5-reel video slot was developed by the OpenBet gaming platform and promises to be a rip-roaring ride through the world of an international DJ.
There are 9 paylines in total in this non-progressive slot, and a 1,000 top prize to be won. There’s also no end of fine features, including a wild symbol and a bonus game. If you want to conquer the music scene with your groovy beats and layered production, you should probably focus your energies on that endeavour and leave the slot-playing to others. But if you want to win some dough by spinning reels rather than records, Super Star DJ lets you attempt just that.
Buying Your Way In
Before you can watch the DJ do his thing, you’ll need to buy a ticket – or stake some coins, as the case may be. The coin values in this one go from 0.25 per line to 10, making the top bet-per-spin a whopping 90 credits. You can choose to play on one line, two lines, right up to nine. Matching combinations pay in all directions, on adjacent reels.
Psychedelic Reels
There’s a definitely psychedelic vibe going on in Super Star DJ, no surprise when you consider the realm the slot inhabits. The 5x3 reel grid is bright and colourful, with neon lights in the background of symbols and stripes in various colours appearing on the playing card icons. It almost looks like an album cover.
Below the reels, the buttons are designed to resemble turntables, which is a nice touch. There are buttons for Paytable, Auto (you can play up to 25 automatic spins), Bet Max, Lines and Stakes. Determine your betting parameters then get the party started: your loyal crowd awaits.
There are ten symbols in Super Star DJ, including four funky-looking playing cards which appear in lime-green writing with a red rim. These are the low-value icons, though they pay reasonably well on the whole. The Jack only manages x1 for three, x2 for four and x10 for five, but the King pays x3, x10 and x20. The Ace pays x4, x15 and x25.
Other symbols include a female DJ in a cowboy hat stood over a turntable, a pair of luscious dance floor babes, a blitzed clubber with eyes like spaceships, a male DJ wearing sunglasses and a female dancer wearing angel wings. There’s also a wild icon, which is a fish. The latter can substitute for all others in the game to help you form wins.
Among the character symbols, the female DJ is the least valuable. You’ll win x5 your stake for three, x25 for four and x50 for five. The angel-wings dancer is next best, paying x10, x50 and x100, while the dance floor babes pays x25, x75 and – wait for it – x500! The very most lucrative symbol is that of the under-the-influence clubber. Find just three of these and you’ll be treated to x50 your stake. Find four or five and you’ll win x100 or x1,000!
While you play, you’ll be treated to various club tunes every time you hit a win. While the reels are spinning though, it’s the usual ‘spinning reels’ sound effect.
Choose a Tune
The bonus feature is one of the best I’ve across. To activate it, you just need to locate three or more male DJ icons on the reels. You’ll then be shown the titular DJ presiding over his decks and a dance floor packed with jiving revellers. You’ll be asked to ‘choose a tune’ from a big box of LPs. When you’ve done so, the DJ will retrieve the record you’ve chosen and start playing that bad boy, which you’ll actually get to listen to. Depending on which record he selects, you’ll be awarded a different multiplier. The multiplier could be as high as x100.
There are no scatters, free spins bonuses or multipliers in Super Star DJ.
Party the Night Away
Super Star DJ is a kick-ass video slot. The gameplay is fantastic, the pay-table is generous and the bonus game is wonderfully upbeat – it will put a grin on your face regardless of which multiplier you uncover! Improvements could be made of course – we would have liked to have seen a scatter symbol – but overall, this is a highly recommendable slot, particularly if you’re a fan of dance music.
