Random Runner 15 Slot Machine
Set the time travel machine to the late 1980s and enjoy the ride, because that is where Random Runner 15 is taking you. And you might just love it.
This slot machine game by Novomatic is indeed a remake of a 1988 eponymous game, which achieved huge popularity in Dutch casinos back in the day. So get ready for some serious nostalgia here!
Let’s see what’s new – and what isn’t – in Random Runner 15.
Out With The Old?
The game heavily relies on the “real casino” feel in terms of general atmosphere. And we will have to admit that it is doing a pretty good job at that. The player is clearly meant to feel as if he or she were sitting in from of a good old slot machine in a land-based casino – you can even catch a glimpse of other machines and their bright lights in the background.
The lights in our casino are dimmed and it gives off a vintage feeling that many will players certainly appreciate, regardless of how many hours they have spent in an actual casino before. For those who haven't we have a cool write up on casino myths which you may enjoy.
Our machine has a clean and uncluttered design, with a black background upon which five white reels are spinning. Another thoughtful detail: the 15 paylines of the game are drawn throughout the reels themselves, making it easier to visualise them. First-time players will appreciate the attention, and veterans will be delighted by the old-school sound effects. So in terms of visual and sound design, we have you covered! Now let’s take a closer look at the gameplay.
In With A Little Bit Of New
We are dealing here with a 5-reel, 15-payline machine within a regular Novomatic setup with which many players will be familiar. You will be asked to input the amount of coins you wish to take into the game, how many paylines you wish to bet on, and finally the amount of your wager – all these settings are conveniently located right below the reels, and will respond to a click on the (-) and (+) buttons.
The reels will spin once you’ve hit the Start button, and you will be given the possibility to either collect you wins (if any), or to double them through the Gamble feature, where you must correctly guess the colour of a hidden card. That’s a 50/50 chance of multiplying your newly acquired credits by two, or losing them all. The Autostart will disable this option, but will let the reels spin freely should you need a break. But don’t go too far! There’s still plenty to look out for in Random Runner 15 and the slot machine odds are good.
Never Change A Winning Team
There are 9 symbols in the game, and you will need to get three of the same kind aligned on an active payline to be a winner. The symbols always pay from left to right, and even combinations in the three middle reels are available.
One glance at the reel and you will recognize the revolving icons – especially if you have played Novomatic games in the past. Be ready to watch a lot of fruit spin around this time again! We begin in ascending order of value with Oranges, Plums, Pears and Bells. Then come the Strawberries, Grapes, Watermelons and the Red Sevens – all of them more valuable than the first group. Finally, don’t forget to keep an eye out for the giant Blue Stars: only they can trigger the jackpot and secure incredible wins!
And if you prefer focussing on the jackpot solely, then you should make sure to remember than some of our beloved fruits come with a star sitting on top of them. If three of this starry fruits line up, then you will win the same jackpot as with the Blue Stars. So don’t miss out!
No Fuss Vintage Fun
Random Runner 15 is the remake of a classic slot machine game. It achieves a successful blending of vintage themes, nostalgic sound effects and graphics with a more modern gameplay. It is perfectly integrated within the standard Novomatic game setup, so both new and veteran players can easily start betting and having fun.
This being said, some players may find the absence of Scatter and Wild symbols a pity, as well as the impossibility to win Free Spins or to collect multipliers. The target audience of the game isn’t set in stones, however, and anyone can have a lot of fun trying out this well-designed, no-frills slot game – and win big at it.
