Cash Runner Slots
You might be expecting a sports themed slot given the name of Cash Runner. But, this is Novomatic, so no surprises, this is actually a fairly classically designed fruit machine, although, in every sense – it’s a big one! No less than 50 lines are available on the expanded 5x4 reel grid, this is good, as it puts the game up there with modern Novomatic titles such as 4 Reel Kings.
Novomatics die-hard fans will be relieved to know that the game is still incredibly easy to play and offers all the high pay-out potential which is a hallmark of their range. The RTP is very generous and the variance sits firmly in the middle, whilst the game might not have the big flashy theme of modern video slots, it has a solid core for those chasing real cash wins.
How to Play Cash Runner
The 50 pay-lines on the game are adjustable, so if the game feels a little big for you, or the bet to play all lines does, you can dim it down a little. We’d highly recommend trimming down your bet per line rather than the lines in play, there are few things in a slot experience more frustrating than landing a big win combination on a pay-line which you could have had active but didn’t!
Bet range is good and offers both high rollers and low stakes players opportunity to set the slot up as they wish. The game includes the novel spins counting mechanism Novomatic games have had for a while which enables easy bankroll management for those who play to a fixed budget. This is assuming you are playing the game as a real money slot as opposed to a free to play emulator.
With bet and lines selected you can spin away automatically or manually, you will want to do the latter if you want the gamble feature available after you wins. This is a simple red / black playing card game where you can double those wins – or lose the lot!
Gameplay & Features
Given the game name we were rather expecting a shifting or stepping wild, as it turns out, the game does have a wild Joker, but it’s fixed. The scatter symbol is a pay award rather than a bonus trigger, it pays out anywhere on the reels rather than being tied to a win-line and also offers the games top prize of 25000x your bet for all 5. That’s over ten times the next high paying symbol (the sevens) so this will be a rarity. Still, like any jackpot mechanism, it’s nice to think that it can hit at any spin!
There’s a huge disparity on the Cash Runner slot in terms of symbol combinations, 3x sevens for instance, nets you 100x your bet, 4x will give you 500 and 5x is 2000. Clearly there’s going to be a lot of small win action going on in the game and you aren’t likely to cash out with a rich reward unless you manage to run a 5x combo.
That isn’t to say the game pay-out is weak, far from it, the hit ratio seems quite high, it’s the really big wins that seem few and far between and that’s a result of the variance being just a touch south of the high middle normally found on Novomatic slots.
Visually and audibly, Cash Runner holds few surprises, the whole thing is well drawn enough, but all the symbols are straight off the existing Novomatic shelf, there isn’t much unique in the reels, icons or the background. The audio is exactly the same as on half a dozen other Novo machines, generally you are likely to be reaching for the mute button.
Summary
As a free to play slot game, Cash Runner really lacks the entertainment factor to divert you away from big branded games such as the Motorhead slot or even Novomatics own classic Book of Ra and it’s many sequels. As a cash slot however, especially on mobile where the simpler graphics allow for a clear display, the game has decent win potential and plays very fluidly. The focus here seems to be on the enjoyment of having a flutter rather than any outright entertainment spectacle, with that in mind Cash Runner does its job very well indeed when you consider the big prizes on offer for the right combinations.
