Rock’n Rolls Slots
From Duane Eddy to Elvis Presley, rock ‘n’ roll remains one of the most visible and iconic youth music cultures ever to have been invented. Maybe that’s because it was the first one to really be invented, or at least rolled out on a mass scale. As such it makes the perfect basis for a game that involves matching pictures up to win cash quickly.
Or at least that’s the idea behind Rock’n Rolls, a 5-reel, 25-payline gambler that looks to put the hound back into the dog, but hopefully not the jailhouse back into anything. It’s a bright, colourful, and hyper-stylised whirlwind of pictures that we all associate with the first era in which the Devil’s music aired on national radio, an age that somehow feels ridiculously innocent and antiquated now.
Good Golly Ms. Molly
Like every online slot machine you’ve ever played, and all those you haven’t, Rock’n Rolls is all about matching up like symbols. Each of these corresponds to a different value, which increases depending on whether you land three, four or five of the same kind.
The pictures themselves aren’t the most complex we’ve seen on a gambler, but they are far from disappointing. Taking a heavy lead from classic Americana signage, each looks the stereotype of 1950s USA, to the point where you can almost smell the hair gel, leather jackets and environmentally unfriendly automobiles preparing for a drag race. Almost. You can quite literally hear the sound of the electric guitars, though, what with the kitsch soundtrack the game also boasts.
In terms of icons themselves, there are a fair few to choose from which we like- it keeps the whole experience fresh and busy. Letters like Q, J, K, and A are presented in ‘period fonts’, which all look pretty cool. Then you have symbols like the jukebox, electric guitar, milkshake, and classic car. Again these are all drawn in a way that implies they are plucked straight from Back To The Future, creating a great atmosphere.
Learning to Pluck and Play
Online casino games are all about knowing when to play and for what. In order to do that, you need to know how to adjust your bets. This is pretty easy, and so we won’t take up much of your time with the explanation.
First of all, select the Coin Size you want to use. Coin Size basically means how much money you’re going to put down on each individual bet. The more you’re willing to put down, the more you’re potentially going to be picking up as the wins are based on multiples of the size of bet. Obviously, though, you will go through cash quicker the more you’re putting down each individual time, so take this into account.
You can also adjust the number of paylines you want to have active in play. The more active paylines, the more opportunities you have of winning. However, more active paylines does not mean higher value individual wins, only the Coin Size will impact on how much you can gain from combinations.
Taking to the Stage
Ultimately, then, it’s pretty straightforward stuff, although there are a few bonuses and special features worth mentioning.
The first is everyone’s favourite, on this game at least. Wild cards look like a kind of LEGO Elvis, so basically awesome, and can substitute for every other symbol on the reels to make up winning combinations, except the Scatter and Bonus symbols. So as not to overload you, let’s deal with each of those individually.
The Scatter icon is a burger and drink (which looks suspiciously like Coca Cola, but definitely isn’t). If you manage to line up three, four or five of these you’ll get a nice little bonus in the shape of some free spins. That means a free bet. And that means potentially free money! Nice.
The bonus is a vinyl record, and activates a nifty bonus round that is pretty self explanatory, basically involving you searching for bonus winnings on the reels. The bonus round can’t be triggered on a free spin, though, which can be a little frustrating, but is far from the end of the world.
Rockin’ Good Fun
From the look to the feel, atmosphere and soundtrack, we love Rock’n Rolls. The imagery is so iconic, and the bonus features and special symbols really add to the whole theme, making for a very complete gambler, but one that doesn’t forget about the most important thing with games like this- winning big, and winning quickly.
