Gem Stones Slot
The arcades we played in our youth have undergone a bit of an upgrade, and when we say a bit we mean a lot; Gem Stones is a slot machine from MultiSlot that is covered in jewels.
Players may want to invest in a pair of sunglasses before playing this as it’s a bright interface to engage with when you have the mere eyes of a human. Jewellers will be fine though, they’re no doubt used to all that twinkling and sparkle.
Even though it’s a very made up video slot, it is still a plain country girl to its core, never forgetting who she is and where she’s come from, which is why you’ll feel like you’re playing an old school game. The brand has tarted everything up, given it more oomph, but left the bones of a game we all know and love; it’s a clever move by them, and one that’s been well received.
This is one for all those out there that don’t want to look at boring fruit when they spin away, but neither do they relish the idea of having to watch as a dragon breathes fire and then causes an explosion in the middle of the reels. Some of us prefer plainer things. This isn’t exactly plainer, but it’s less complicated.
Place Your Bets
There are 15 paylines awaiting you, ready to be left alone or dwindled down until there’s nothing left; try and stop yourself from getting click happy, the more winlines you have to play the better for your bank. At least in theory.
As for the bet itself, that’s lit up on the emerald chunk that makes up part of the panel beneath the 5 reels. There are no arrows or widgets to faff about with save for the button itself, allowing you to casually click through each amount until you’re satisfied. Should you overshoot the mark and go past the bet you want, you can just tap through again until you find it. The maximum you’ll be able to play with is 75 credits and the smallest is 0.75.
Next to this gem is a deep black jewel that is the Autoplay, here you can set rounds and change the settings to pinpoint when the option should stop during the game, say when you win or loss. It’s all standard, and no doubt you’ll have seen it all before, even more so if you play a lot of MultiSlot titles. No judging, we’re just saying.
Twinkle Twinkle
Out of every symbol you can get your mitts on, the scatter, a light green gem on a white background, is the only one you’ll ever need if free spins are your thing. By getting either three, four or five of them, you can look forward to as many as 25 free rounds, though any free round is a nice gift back after having to bet.
If, on the other hand, you’re all about big financial gains and not so keen on extras, the wild symbol is where you’ll see the most change in your account balance. Not only does it substitute other icons bar the scatter, but it can reward players with a welcome sum of 2,000 credits. Of course, you could also end up winning nothing from the wilds or only 25 coins, if you don’t match them correctly or only make a win of three.
Here is where we start to get bored - everything was great and then MultiSlot didn’t bother putting in anything else. Even the inclusion of a larger free spins round where you have to click and play would have been better than what we were given. Gem Stones feels like it should be giving back more to its customers.
Never a Dull Shine
Not strictly true, but it isn’t as boring nor as repetitive as other titles available online, and so that has to count for something. MultiSlot could have gone beyond here and made a better slot machine, but they chose to keep it small and easy, handing us the bare essentials and then sending the title out into the world. We wish the lure of gemstones could sate our hunger, but it doesn’t quite fill the void, we need to chow down on a slot with more sustenance.
