Drone Wars Slots
Prepare for a leap into the future with this game, as you will take an active role to defend the planet against an invasion of hostile robots from outer space.
Drone Wars by Genesis Gaming is a video slot game with an exciting premise and a radically sci-fi universe, with a touch of retro on top. The game is filled with references to classic sci-fi film aesthetics, with colourful and somehow plastic-looking robots and drones filling up the reels. Do you have what it takes to take on the impending invasion and save the planet from certain destruction?
Read our review of Drone Wars to put all chances on your side to become the world’s greatest here – and to win big on the reels at the same time. Don’t worry, we won’t (ahem) drone on…
Back to the future
Drone Wars was definitely inspired by classic sci-fi theme, but instead of top-notch 3D special effects try to imagine what authors and film makers from the 1950s though the year 2000 would look like.
As a result, the game mixes futuristic machinery with very retro and somewhat old-fashioned aesthetics. You are sitting in the cockpit of a spaceship, with the reels occupying the entire window overlooking outer space. The command buttons and other background details are meant to correspond to the spaceship’s commands themselves, with plenty of wiring and mysterious blinking lights all over.
Drone Wars looks a feels a little cluttered in comparison to other recent slot games, but that is probably all part of the design itself, and the result is still fun to look at. Let’s see how to engage the enemy in battle.
Protect the world at any cost
Drone Wars might be taking place in a distant future, the basic rules of the game still follow a classic pattern.
The game matrix features 5 reels with three symbol positions and 25 paylines available in total. To win, you need to align symbol combinations on activated paylines. The cash prize that ensues depends on the type of symbols lined up and the size of your bet. Use the (+) and (-) symbols in the command bar below the reels to change your wager and the number of activated paylines for the next spin. You can also click the bet max button to go all-in on all 25 paylines at once, and thus maximise your chances to hit a bit win in the future.
To speed up the process a little, simply switch to autoplay mode. The reel will keep on spinning on their own for a moment and all you have left to do in the meantime is cross your fingers and stay focused. All winning in autoplay mode are automatically transferred to your credit total without you having to lift a finger.
Space arsenal
The paytable of Drone Wars contains 10 futuristic-looking reel symbols, which you need to collect to trigger cash prizes during the game.
We begin with the classic card symbols, from number 10 to the Ace. As it is often the case in slot games, these first icons are ultra common on the reels yet yield only modest wins to the lucky players.
For bigger rewards, aim at combinations of laser guns or space torpedoes, as well as the two spaceship pilots you might be able to spot during the game. The most valuable icon is a bright blue flying saucer, worth 1000 times your wager for a five-of-a-kind combination.
Special weapons
Drone Wars contains a handful of special features ready to spice up the game and change the course of the battle to your favour.
The classic wild card substitutes for all basic symbols listed previously and awards a big cash prize if you manage to line up a few of them on an activated paylines. The scatter is also a well-known bonus that pays modest wins regardless of its position on the reels.
That being said, three or more scatters trigger one of the two bonus rounds available. You get to choose between space attack and planetary assault: the former is played on the reels over the course of a minimum of 5 free spins where you need to fight back a drone attach to earn more free games and extra prizes. Planetary assault is a more classic pick-and-choose game, with the particularity that the drones you pick might retaliate and cut the bonus game short.
Epic space battles
Drone Wars stands out in the slot game market by mixing futuristic and vintage elements together to give a unique result.
The graphics might not be as good as in other games, but the bonus rounds are definitely exiting and potentially very rewarding. And who would not want to save the planet and become a hero anyway?
