Jour de L’Amour Slots
Paris, cats and pastel colours await you in this 5 reel video slot from GamesOS. I think it is fair to say that you’ll either love the idea – or be clicking on the ‘next’ button super-fast here. With a romantic accordion based tune playing, and several bonus rounds involving cats murdering fish, mice or birds for love – plus a free spins game - there is plenty going on. In line with the GamesOS slots range you’ll be able to choose whether to play this on your mobile phone or computer. You’ll also find the potential for big wins; with the top line prize a healthy 9000 coins.
The background to this slot is a pastel coloured Paris skyline, complete with Eiffel Tower. The reels sit over a rooftop and the semi-transparent background for the symbols gives a nice feeling of depth. The symbols themselves involve either cats or gifts. There is a black and a white female cat, and the guys who are competing for their affections. These are a grey cat driving car and a ginger cat with arms full of gifts. There is a box of chocolate (presumably certified cat-friendly brands), a pink gift box, posy of flowers and bottle of Champaign. Just to complete the chintzy feel, the scatter is cupid and wild is two love-cats together in the moonlight.
All of the bonus features in this slot are pick-em games. You’ll select 3 of each type of animal from a different background and each will reveal a win.
Setup and Play for Jour de L’Amour
This game uses a very standard setup, with 5 reels, 25 lines and 3 rows of symbols. It is up to you how many lines to play – though most players stick to the full 25 and adjust their coin sizes instead. Coins can be from 1c through to 20c, giving a 25c to $5 spin range. The ladder to the left of the spin button becomes a ‘gamble after win’ trigger when you hit a win. This brings up a sub-game where you can bet on the turn of a playing card. Auto-spin is also available as with all GamesOS slots.
GamesOS give you a lot of options in the settings to control your game. These include adjusting the relative volume of the background track or spin / win sounds. You can also choose ‘fast’ mode, which does away with spinning – instantly replacing the symbols each time you click instead.
Wild symbols have the biggest prizes attached. You can win 9000 coins by getting 5 of these on a win line. The prizes start at 25 coins for 2, 100 for 3 and 1000 for 4 on a line. As this symbol substitutes for all of the others (not the bonus cats or scatters) you’ll usually have several more wins on adjacent lines too.
Regular prizes are topped by the grey cat, which nets you 750 coins for 5. The ginger one is worth 500 for a full set and the black one the same. The gifts make up the smaller wins, and there are no playing card symbols on this slot at all.
The white cats are bonus symbols. There are 3 different types, which trigger the mouse, bird or fish bonus games depending on which one you get 3+ of on the screen. The cupid scatter triggers free spins, though does not have a pay out of its own. 5 of these gets 10 free spins, 4 gets 5 and 3 scatters gets you 3 free spins.
Jour de L’Amour Bonus Games
The pick-em bonus games are very simple. You’ll go to a new screen, for example mice peeping out of jars and boxes on a shelf or birds peeping out of the entrances to their nest boxes. When you click on one of the animals, a win amount is shown. While the implication is that the cats are tearing mice limb from limb to prove their mouse-catching prowess to the female cat – this is not actually shown. Instead you take your 3 picks of whichever creature, and then get shown your total win before going back to the main game.
There is no special behaviour or multiplier during the free spins game, these can be retriggered during play and the number remaining can be seen above the reels.
Jour de L’Amour – Conclusion
If a romantic slot with cats based in Paris in pastel shades appeals to you – then this might just be the perfect slot! The music is melodic and smooth, the cats look friendly and there are enough bonus games to keep things from getting dull. As a non-cat-lover, you might find the chance of a big win with 5 wilds the most appealing thing about this game instead!
