Burning Flame Slot
Burning Flame is a traditional style slot game from GameART, with 5 reels and only 5 paylines. This game is 100% traditional in terms of symbols and format, but with modern graphics to give the traditional theme an extra burst of colour and visual appeal. The symbols are a classic combination of bright juicy fruits such as orange lemons and grapes, accompanied by bells, lucky 7s and a star shaped badge for the Scatter.
Traditional fruit machines are hugely popular worldwide and particularly in the UK, where they frequently inhabit public houses and game arcades and are referred to as ‘fruities’. Online game providers have been reproducing these classic machines for years, sometimes in the form of a digital replica or as Burning Flame, with more modern graphics. Other popular titles include Stickers and Fruit Shop from NetEnt, Fruit Bonanza from Play N’ Go and Fruit Sensation from Novomatic.
You’d probably be hard pressed to find a provider who didn’t have at least one fruit themed slot game on offer, making this a challenging theme to bring to a game and make it stand out from the crowd.
Fruits and Flames
The twist GameART have chosen to give on this most classic of themes is the addition of flames, lots and lots of flames. The reels are set against a red background panel but behind this panel is a whole screen of moving flame graphics.
The flames are also the star of the title, which gives nothing away about the traditional fruit theme of the game. The flames are almost relaxing to look at and would make this game a nice choice in winter, but they are basically just the backdrop of the game and don’t play any part in the format.
The buttons on the game are also modern rather than trying to reproduce the traditional land based machine plastic buttons. So this game is basically some decent flame graphics and some traditional symbols in a modern rendering. The sounds are also traditional like the symbols.
Behind the Fiery Curtain
This game has 5 reels, yet only 5 paylines and a top prize of 1,000x your stake. The pay table, as many of the newer ones do, adjusts the prize depending on your stake. Call us old fashioned, but we prefer a static pay table which gives fixed coin values but this modern type of pay table is becoming increasingly popular so keen players will be used to it by now. Stake amounts here range from 0.01 per line to 0.50 per line for a maximum bet of 2.50 per spin, making it a low value affordable game to play, just like a traditional slot machine.
The star Scatter symbol here looks a bit like a multicoloured sheriff’s badge and its functionality is very basic; it basically just pays out wherever 3 of them land on the reels, unlike the other symbols which need to land on the same line. There are no free spins rounds or bonus games here, it’s traditional in the sense of just doing what a slot machine has always done: spinning reels.
The other symbols are a selection of classic fruits including grapes, oranges, lemons and cherries and the other classic, bells. Full value details are in the pay table below.
Burning Hot Fun?
As far as a simple, traditional fruit slot game goes, this one has no major flaws. However, neither does it have any major selling points. While it’s a simple, affordable game for the beginner or someone who likes their slots as traditional and no-frills as possible, otherwise there’s nothing but a flame graphic to differentiate this game from any other simple, traditional slot. The other point worth mentioning is that having only 5 paylines means that the chances of landing a winning one are less than it would be with a 25 payline game, so wins are infrequent.
We managed to run a 50 spin demo and land only one very small win, which also makes us wonder about the RTP rate of the game, which unfortunately is not yet available anywhere. Overall, we’d probably give this one a miss unless we were feeling particularly chilly.
