Painted Elephant Slot Machine
Painted Elephant is a 5-reel video slot from Cozy Games. Its African theme is manifest in the exotic symbols that feature in the game – symbols that include a tribal mask and a majestic looking painted elephant.
Cozy Games must have found themselves running short of inspiration at some point in the process though, which accounts for why one of the symbols is a peanut. As everyone knows, the only thing that elephants can eat is peanuts.
Welcome to the Jungle
In terms of layout, Cozy Games have stuck to the format they’re familiar with and it’s one that’s worked well for them thus far. The company, who operate out of headquarters on the Isle of Man, have deployed 20 lines and a standard 5 x 3 layout. Leaves, overlaid with numbers, flank the reels and depict the active pay lines. When you spin the reels and notch a win, the remainder of the reels are blurred out, highlighting your winning line or lines.
Any time you win something playing Painted Elephant, you’ll see the red Gamble button light up. Click on it and you’ll be taken through to the gamble round, where you have the option of betting black or red on the next card to be shown.
Alternatively, if you’re feeling bold, try and guess the identity of the next suit. If you’ve gone for color, correctly selecting red or black will double the amount you won on the reels. If you’ve elected to go with suits, a correct guess will quadruple your stake. It will come as no surprise to learn that you’re going to fail on this feature more often than you’re going to call it right, even when you’re just betting black or red. The maximum amount you can gamble with on this feature is £500.
Set the Stakes
Below the reels you’ll find the usual controls set out in Cozy Games’ usual manner. The number of coins can be set at 1-3 and the number of lines at 1-20. A Bet Max button will set these at the maximum level for you. Don’t forget about the coin value however, which can be set anywhere from 0.01 to 1.00. At the highest setting, each roll of the reels will cost you £60. Your account balance is displayed in the top left of the screen; cashier, mute and refresh buttons in the top right.
Jungle Is Massive
The setting for the game comprises a series of bamboo poles with a jungle backdrop rendered in various shades of green. Before you spin the reels, it’s probably worth getting an overview of the symbols and their respective values. The gold bar, unusually, is the lowest value symbol in Painted Elephant along with the tree/setting sun. 5 of a kind is worth just 50. Next up it’s the peanut, which commands 100 for 5, followed by the mask which is worth 200.
There are two types of mask to choose from. 5 regular elephants are worth 300, 5 water spouting elephants are worth 400 and the tiger is worth 500. Top of the pile is the Tarzan-esque hunter, proving that the elephant may be the most powerful creature in the jungle but it is man who calls the shots and paints the ears.
Wild Animals
The wild symbol is played by the painted elephant, its head and trunk adorned with purple and golden designs as if in readiness for some kind of ceremony. Wild will substitute for any of the symbols except for scatter and will double up the value of any wins it helps secure. Should you have the fortune of landing 5 wild symbols, you’ll be rewarded to the tune of 10,000.
The scatter, meanwhile, is played by an early 20th century explorer wearing a helmet and monocle to go with his bright ginger tache. 2 scatters are worth 5 free spins, 3 are worth 10 free spins, 4 are worth 15 and 5 are worth 20 spins. Any prizes you land during free spins will be automatically doubled.
Painted Elephant isn’t the most exciting slot you’ll ever play, but it’s still a pretty slick game. The graphics are nice and there are a few ways to win decent cash playing it. Whenever you tire of spinning the reels, take your win – no matter how paltry – to the gamble feature and do your utmost to double or even quadruple it.
