Ooh Aah Dracula Slot
This slot has a slightly crazy Dracula theme – and plenty of interesting features to go with it. This title is a step up for Barcrest, taking their solid game play and adding high-roller options, free spins games and a graveyard pick-me bonus round on top. The hectic music and cartoon-like symbols combine to make this a light-hearted look at the otherwise dark Dracula theme.
A lot of hard work has gone into the symbols for this slot. Even the trusty playing cards have had a make-over to give them a darker look. Examples include candles on top of the Kings and a bat as the cross portion of the capital ‘A’ for the ace. Dracula himself looks funny, with bright blue lenses in his sunglasses. There is a castle, female vampire and a bright ‘Ooh Ahh Dracula’ logo. A bright red heart with a stake in it is the trigger for the bonus game. The music does add to the overall crazy feel of this game. Most of the time the tune is fast - though generic. There is another part which sounds uncannily like ‘Rock Lobster’ from the B52’s. I just cannot see how that fits with the theme! Most of the other sounds are computer generated tunes, though a bell does toll when the hearts hit the reels (as long as it is still possible for the bonus to be triggered).
The main bonus games are a free spins round and a game where you pick a tombstone. There are more complex options via a special ‘high roller’ spins option.
Setup and Play for Ooh Aah Dracula
Like many Barcrest slots, Ooh Aah Dracula has 10 non-selectable win lines. There is a wide range of stakes available ranging from just 10c through to $500 per spin. The standard Barcrest auto-spin option is also available.
The ‘Hi Roller’ button causes a pop up with different options. You can choose from 5 spins at $20, which will award a special graveyard bonus after the free spins. Alternatively you can have 5 spins for $30, which gives you a super-graveyard bonus on top of your free spins. These options promise a very generous 99% return to player (RTP), great as long as you have the bankroll to handle the larger amounts.
Ooh Aah Dracula logos pay the biggest prize in this game – 5000 coins for 5 on a line, and 500 coins for just 4. Dracula himself comes next in the prize list, with 1000 coins for 5. The castle is next with 500 coins, then the female vampire and rabbit (no, I don’t see how that fits in either) – followed by the playing card symbols.
There is a bright ‘wild’ symbol, which substitutes for all of the regular symbols, though not the scattered hearts. Those hearts award free spins, the main bonus for this game.
Ooh Aah Dracula – Bonus Game
The basis of the bonus feature is 15 free spins with a randomly assigned wild symbol, which is triggered by getting 3+ of the hearts anywhere on the reels. If you get 4 hearts, you still get 15 spins, though after seeing the amount won you can choose to have 10 more spins with another wild symbol assigned at random instead. With 5 of the hearts a further spins game with 5 spins of 3 wilds is offered. If you take the high roller options, these games are the same – though you’ll get an extra chance to land 4 or 5 hearts when you get the initial 3. This is on a blank set of reels with only the hearts showing. You cannot retrigger the spins while playing on this slot.
The second bonus is a simple game where tombstones line up across the screen. Highlighting them with your mouse shows the words ‘pick me’ on each in turn. You click on one of them, which reveals a cash prize. The others then reveal the prize which was hidden behind them. This game follows from the free spins when you choose the high-roller option for play. If you choose the bigger of the 2 high roller games, then you get to play a ‘Super Tombstone Bonus’. This is the same game as before, only with bigger prizes.
Ooh Aah Dracula – Conclusion
This is the best Barcrest slot I have played so far. It manages to combine being light-hearted and entertaining to play with the potential for big wins. You can do well on the reels, with 5000 coins for 5 logos – though the free spins bonus game is where the best action can be found. The high roller is a nice touch, and as long as you can afford the bigger spin costs it does make sense to choose the option with the highest RPT. I will be back for more spins on this slot, and recommend you add it to your list of games to check out soon.
