City Life 2: The Vegas Job Slot
Our favourite mugs and thugs that originally graced City Life’ are back in action – and how! The stage is set in Las Vegas, where the busy Vegas Strip of casinos, bars, pubs and shopping malls is hot in anticipation. But the deal is bigger this time around, and stakes, indeed, much heavier. Picking pockets has gone out of fashion, and to survive, our conmen have to pull off something massive – The Sting style.
To join reckless manoeuvres and flawless capers of Mr Jobs, Rona Heels, Madame Loretta. Ramzi Snip and DJ Valensia, all you have to do is spin those nasty reels of City Life 2: The Vegas Job, a worthy follow-up to tremendously popular City Life slot by 888 Holdings.
Thank You Very Much, Con Again!
Conning again indeed are our brazen street-thugs – in an all new look.
While City Life Original was all about simplicity, 888 has upped the game in the looks-and-feels department by adding more colours and better illustrations in City Life 2. And it all is quite warranted. After all, you can’t really visit Vegas looking beat-up, can you?
Much of the popularity of the City Life franchise goes to its success in keeping up with the trends. Released in 2013, City Life 2 tries its best to fit into the scene, all the while keeping its distance from the flock where it matters. A good strategy – well played, 888!
The Gameplay: No Cons Here
When you are playing a con, do be sure to know your drills, and to save some tricks up your sleeve. Getting conned is perhaps the worst travesty for a conman. And to avoid ending up in that toe-curling situation, you would do well to get to know the gameplay of City Life 2 well and true.
When simplified overly, it is a 5-reel and 20-paylines classic slot that prefers to follow the rules that most slot players know like the back of their hands. All the reels carry 3 rows each, while all the paylines are static.
Wagering itself isn’t much too difficult, given that you don’t have to invest too much of a thought (what a relief!) due to static paylines. Again, there is no deviation whatsoever from the norms here, as you can wager only one coin per line, per spin, keeping the coin value within the limits stipulated (1 cent and $5).
With the Bet Max button, you can bet all of $100 per spin, hoping that somewhere out there, your luck is cooking up strategies to turn you into an all-out winner.
Combinations are meted out left-to-right by default. You can choose to activate the special ‘2 Ways 2 Win’ mode in which both left-to-right and right-to-left combinations are valid. That, however, increases your wager amount by 25%.
Can You See Them?
The high-paying symbols of City Life 2 include assorted members of this illustrious con-team. The boss of them all is a suave, cigar-smoking and class-oozing (pseudo) gentleman – Mr Jobs! Five-of-its-kind combinations of this symbol are good enough to allow you to help yourself to 2,000 coins!
Other base symbols include a red sports car, a camouflage jacket, a revolver with some spare bullets and quite strangely, a time bomb. These are, in all fairness, just there to make up the quorum, and they don’t pay much.
Conning ‘Em Special
Conning ‘em all specially are the special symbols of City Life 2.
The first one is the scatter symbol (don’t squint looking for it – it simply reads Scatter). Depending upon the number of times it appears in view, it can yield up to 15 free spins.
Next up are two wilds of the slot – Wild and Wild 3x. Both of these are classic wilds that don’t pay out. Wild 3x, however, triples all the winnings that it features in.
The bonus round, Vegas Bonan$a, can be activated by landing up 3 Bonus symbols (on reels 2, 3 and 4). In this round, you will be helping the gang get out of a pickle. If you pull it off – much like The Wolf in Pulp Fiction – you can easily get your hands on 10x multipliers for base game winnings.
So, live it up in the Sin City with the gang! It’s a great time to be lucky!
Life in the Fast Lane
City Life 2 is immensely entertaining. The characters are quite eclectic and they make this slot much more than a slot – a true video game experience.
Playing is easy and payouts are handsome, too. We would have loved to see another bonus game, especially given the room provided by the plot. Since the wagers are capped at $100, City Life 2 is a tailor-made slot for beginners and low-risk players.
