Gods of Olympus Online Slot Machine Review
The Gods of Olympus slot is one set in the times of ancient Greece, making this one in a long line of slots with something of a similar theme. Having played a number of these slots; I’m of the opinion that a game in the same genre has to stand out in some way to set it apart from the others. Read on and you’ll find if this slot is indeed outstanding, or just another ancient themed video slot.
When you first enter the slot you can’t help but be impressed. You are shown an animation of an ancient field, with mountains ranging on the horizon. On the grass are a series of derelict pillars, some broken and strewn across the grass and this accompanied by a very effective soundtrack – making for one of the most impressive opening sequences I have seen. However, then it all falls a little flat. The slot itself really doesn’t live up to the opening sequence. In comparison, the graphics here look a little cheap and basic. The slot is set against what looks like the same scene from the opening sequence, all silhouetted in blue, but the pillared frame looks nowhere near as impressive here and all of the symbols, although looking OK, don’t give the slot a professional feel at all. The background sound is a little strange too – here you’re treated to a mandolin playing, the kind of music you might expect on a slot about Tudor England in the time of Henry VIII. Overall, after the opening sequence, this is all something of a let-down. This slot has two feature rounds – a free spins round a pick 'em round where you’ll win instant cash prizes.
Set up and Play for Gods of Olympus Slot
This slot by 1x2 Gaming has five reels and 20 win lines. These win lines are not set like some other slots, so you’ll have the option of playing any number between 1 and 20 – for an illustration of the win lines click on ‘show win lines’ which will overlay the lines on top of the reels. You’ll also choose the coin amount and the coin value which will give you your total stake for the slot.
The wild symbol (a Greek goddess) will substitute for any other symbol apart from the scatter ones to give you additional wins.
The features are both activated by scatter symbols. Landing Zeus (complete with lightning in hand) 3 or more times on a win line will activate the free spins round and landing Poseidon (complete with fork in hand) 3 or more times anywhere on the slot will activate the bonus round.
Gods of Olympus Slot Features
You’ll receive 10 free spins when Zeus appears, this something of a standard free spins round with a 2x multiplier. The round starts with the backdrop becoming dark and the soundtrack is much like that of the opening sequence, being more suited to the theme.
The bonus round sees you presented with five urns. You’ll click on each one and hope that it contains a cash prize represented by a stack of gold coins. If the urn opens and all you see is a puff of smoke, then the urn will be worth nothing. The amount you win when finding the gold coins will change from urn to urn, so this feature could potentially be quite profitable.
Gods of Olympus - Conclusion
Having played Gods of Olympus you’ll quickly realise that there is nothing to set this slot apart from its rival slots of a similar theme. The slot is relatively basic, even the features not particularly grabbing your attention – the only highpoint being before you actually hit the reels. Having said that, players who enjoy a slot where they gain regular wins without spending too long playing features may find that this fits the bill – although there are many similar, if not better 1X2 games out there, such as Aladdin's Destiny or Downtown.
