Alice and the Red Queen Slot Machine
This slot is based around the two tales from Lewis Carroll – Alice’s adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, where Alice visits a fantasy land and has encounters with such characters as the Mad Hatter and the Cheshire Cat. This slot features all of these characters and each symbol also carries with it a playing card symbol in opposite corners which can give an added win.
This slot is a cartoon take on the Alice story, in some ways like the Disney animation made in the early 1950’s although if anything this slot has something of a darker feel, the symbols tending to show that the whole slot is set at night. There is some animation at this slot, but it is simply a case of the symbols becoming wobbly and distorted as opposed to them acting out a scene or doing something in character. The soundtrack to the slot is a quirky, jumpy tune, befitting the subject of the slot.
The main feature of the slot is the free spins round which is activated by the teapot scatter symbol.
Set up and Play for Alice and the Red Queen Slot
This 1x2 game has the somewhat standard 5 reels as seen at many online slots, this particular game featuring 25 win lines. These win lines are customisable, so you’ll be able to play as few or as many as you like. There is a ‘show win lines’ button which will show you all the lines over the top of the slot, although this is a little too crowded to really make anything out.
You’ll win at this slot if landing three or more consecutive symbols on a win line from left to right start, with the added bonus of a win if landing just two of the top four symbols in the game. Alice herself, who has incredibly big eyes incidentally, is the largest paying symbol in the game and will win you 750x your coin amount if landing 5 in a row, whilst the red queen is second best, winning you 500x. The ‘drink me’ bottle, the ‘eat me’ cake come next and are followed by all of the other characters – the mad hatter, the Cheshire cat, the rabbit, the ant, tweedledum and tweedledee and the hare.
I mentioned at the start that each symbol has a playing card attached and this comes into play when the same suit appears five times in a row on a win line. Five hearts in a row pays out 30x, five diamonds pays out 25x and the spades and the clubs pay out 20x and 15x respectively. This is a nice feature as occasionally you’ll pick up a win without actually being aware as you are concentrating on the larger symbols as opposed to the playing cards.
The slot has a wild symbol which will replace any other during the game, apart from the scatter (teapot) symbol and the cake symbol.
To activate the free games round you’ll need to land the teapot scatter symbol at least 3 times across any of the reels of the slot.
Alice and the Red Queen Slot Free Games Round
The number of free spins you receive during the feature is dependent on how many scatter symbols you hit to land it. For landing the minimum 3 symbols you’ll gain 5 free spins, 4 symbols will give you 10 and the maximum five will see you earn 15 free spins. During the free spins the cake symbol will act slightly differently to the others in the fact that should it land three or more times on a win line regardless of position (meaning that it won’t necessarily have to be left to right consecutively) you’ll win. Two cakes will pay 12x, three cakes pay 30x, four cakes is worth 100x and all five wins you 200x.
Alice and the Red Queen Slot – Conclusion
This slot is a difficult one to get too enthused about. When playing a slot with such a well-known theme, you might expect there to be some good features – let’s face it, there’s plenty of ways they could go about it with the Alice in Wonderland stories. However, all we have is a free spins round and a simple suited playing cards feature (if it can be classed as a feature).
The lack of features however might be seen as advantage to some players who might not like the incessant interruptions - the lack of features actually meaning many more smaller pay-outs, which some will also see as a bonus.
