40 Thieves Slot
Epic stories are great sources of inspiration for slot game developers, and the Germany-based Bally Wulff team has picked one of the most famous adventure to base their new creation on.
40 Thieves is indeed heavily inspired by the story of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, with which we are probably all familiar with. If you are after a quick way to make some extra money while enjoying a unique gaming atmosphere, you have certainly come to the right place.

Venture into the Desert
40 Thieves is a slot game that draws on the 1001 Nights stories and strives to recreate the unique atmosphere characteristic of the famous legends.
Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the background of the game shows a vast, barren landscape. Even the sky has an orange tone, and the desert seems to be extending endlessly, all the way to the horizon. Behind the reels, you can catch a glimpse of the famous thieves on horseback.
The graphic quality is, however, rather low in comparison to other games. The reels stand in the middle of the screen on a dark red background and take up most of the space available on the screen. 40 Thieves might be based on an epic story, but it does not necessarily show at first sight.
How to Play
40 Thieves follows a classic gameplay pattern that most players will immediately recognise. Beginners should have no problem wrapping their heads around the game mechanisms either.
The game matrix leaves enough space for five spinning reels of four symbols each, with 40 fixed paylines running across them. Your goal is naturally to make sure that winning combinations of symbols land on these paylines when the reels come to a stop in order to trigger a cash prize. The prize will depend on both the type of symbols involved and the size of your wager, so you might want to bet a little extra at the beginning of your turn. Use the (+) and (-) buttons located in the lower right-hand corner of the game screen in order to adjust your wager. Hit Spin when you are ready or Max Bet if you would rather go all-in and risk it all for a chance to hit the jackpot.
Should you feel like placing several bets in a row, try the Auto Start button and put the game on autopilot for a little while. The spins will follow each other, placing your bet continuously without you having to intervene. Just sit back and watch as your winnings are automatically transferred to your credit total.
A Two-Part Menu
The paytable of 40 Thieves contains two different group of reel symbols, which is again a classic slot game feature.
The first four symbols are the Heart, Spade, Club and Diamond. These card-inspired icons appear most frequently on the reels, despite the relatively low rewards that they yield.
Bigger wins come with the more original symbols. The Dagger, the Lamp, the Horse and the Thieve are much more valuable and can make you rich instantly, should you be lucky enough to score long combinations with them on the reels. As the saying goes, practice makes perfect so do not give hope and keep the reels spinning until you have earned you fair share of the loot.
Extra Ways to Win Big
After each win on the reels, you have the possibility to gamble your reward in two different ways. The Card Gamble is a double-or-nothing mini game where guessing correctly the colour of a hidden card doubles your intake, while the Ladder Gamble is more of a progressive mini game where the jackpot lies at the top of a ladder.
The Wild card is a slot game classic; as always, it can replace any basic symbol and help you create more winning combinations on the screen.
The Golden Jewel is a Scatter that can trigger both big wins and Free Spins regardless of its position on the reels. Win up to 50 free games, during which the Thieve acts as an Extra Wild to help you win even larger prizes.
Classic Game Saved by its Bonus Features
40 Thieves does not really strike the eye with its graphics, not the originality of its gameplay. The paytable is not exactly rich either, but the basic rewards are more than honest.
On the other hand, 40 Thieves offers quite a few possibilities to increase your winnings through its fun bonus and gamble features, which is definitely worth mentioning here.
